Same as the Wood Joint brief i've spent some time exposing the typefaces ive created into promotional posters to highlight how they work in different scales. I suppose the briefs i've done through this module show how the typefaces can be put into context.

Having given the brief to a student to look over he found the posters most effective in being easy to understand and learn from. The booklets worked in the sense he found them engaging to play with how the content of the text was a little boring to him. Maybe this is because of the text or how i've presented it.

Above ideas for packaging design. The two above images have a rather bold front cover to the packaging. Although it shows off the designed type in a better light then the top image i just don't feel it looks as professional. I think the top image has a cleaner smarter feel to it which is why that's the one i'll be using.

Really like how the packaging works, its very clean and slick, with its squarish finish. I think when i apply a design to the packaging i will keep it minimal and let the content inside stand out.

Not very clear but the two pictures above are the net drawings for the packaging of this brief.

Having emailed two printers here are the opinions i received on production.
Aside from the readability issues i'm happy with the design. My only other worry is about the folds and that the will stay strong and not tear after use.

Printed the set of booklets and although the design works well, when printed the block of colour is bleeding into the text. Whether this is because of the stock or the fact its been printed with inkjet printers i'm uncertain. I will contact industry printers to see what they suggest as the best stock and way of printing.

The posters need to fold down to eventually fit into packaging with the booklet. I printed the posters onto cartridge paper which isn't folding well at all as we can see above. Will have to re-think the stock for the posters.

After creating the posters with the one colour, i've done the same with the booklets. Which i believe looks so much better, the whole design seems for focused on the type and the text.

Applying the same grid from the previous post ive applied all the information to create the 3 posters. I think these work better then the booklets for the reason that they are one colour on stock.
I'm applying the letterforms ive created to the left hand side to relate to the booklets and carry on the type driven design.

Alongside the fold out booklets i want to have posters to support the information and explain different types of metals, plastics and woods.

Above shows a serious of grid ideas, all in a square format, which i've decided on to come away from the a format.
