The process of making the box was great for me to get to grips with, to some it up very quickly essentially...
1. cut 2 sides and 2 ends.
2.cut pins out for the joints to fit together.
3. glue sides and ends.
4. glue and pin MDF bottom.
5.glue and nail pine top.
6.using wood filler fill in all gaps in joints.
7. sand work down.
8.cut through top of joint.
9.attach hinges.

SO for my wood joint brief it seemed appropriate to have a wood box with a comb joint for the packaging. My reasoning for this is partly me as a designer and me as a teacher. Children learn in various ways which is simplified through VAK, visual, audio and kinaesthetic learning. So by having the packaging as an example of the joint they will be making this allows visual learners to engage with it a lot more. As a designer i think this a more conceptual idea rather than having paper based packaging.
